What does primary care designed for the way you live look like?
To begin with, we understand that your life is really busy. Taking care of your health may be the last thing you think of. We know. So we designed a practice that makes the whole process easier. One that’s simple…convenient…and comprehensive. Because we understand that if it’s easier to access care, you’ll be more likely to use it. And in the end, that will help make you healthier.
Family practice specialists like Dr. Michael Nienhuis and Dr. Vanessa Wideman mean your whole family can have the same doctor. They’re experts in helping you manage disease and navigate the complexities of modern healthcare. Above all, they want to develop a relationship with you that will help you and your family chart a path to better health.
We’ve done much more than that.
Convenience means all the diagnostics you’ll generally need – from a simple lab test to a sophisticated open MRI – are located right in the same building, at the Elgin Outpatient Center. So if you need blood work done for your annual physical, you can stop by the laboratory on the first floor, and by the time you’re ready for your appointment in Primary Care, the results are ready for your doctor. There’s no running from place to place to get everything you need, or making a separate appointment because you need an x-ray. One stop and you’re done.
We’re making the most of technology, too. Most prescriptions we give you at an office visit can be electronically sent directly to your pharmacy. No trip to the drugstore to drop off your prescription and another to pick it up. Just give the pharmacy a call before you go to pick up your medicine to be sure the order has been filled. It couldn’t be simpler. Soon, you’ll even be able to schedule your appointment online – wherever you might be and whenever it’s convenient. You’ll also be able to request prescription refills online and email your physician a question.
We also know you don’t always get sick 9 to 5.
Naturally, if you call our office after hours, you can leave a message for the physician on call and they’ll get in touch with you as soon as possible. But if you’d prefer, there’s an excellent alternative just downstairs. Dr. Shelley Janssen and Dr. Robert Borucki of Urgent Care at Elgin are an important part of our team. They’re both trained in family medicine and emergency care, so they’re ready to help you through all of life’s little emergencies. Urgent Care is perfect for many everyday illnesses and injuries…things like colds, flu, bug bites, cuts, aches and pains. It’s open evenings and weekends, and you never need an appointment. As part of our care team, Dr. Janssen and Dr. Borucki have access to your medical information to help with treatment, and they’ll provide us with a complete report about your care. It’s a seamless mesh of care designed to keep you healthier all the time.
